The opening performance of this year’s Workshop Festival is “BIG LIFE” by Emmanuelle HUYNH, Art Director of the Angers National Center of Contemporary Dance (CNDC). The 10 successful applicants who passed the audition in the last year’s festival jointly produced the piece in January and April of 2008 for this stage.
A duet version of this piece will be danced by Catherine LEGRAND and Nuno BIZARRO, who were the dancers of this piece at its debut in ’03.

Emmanuelle HUYNH:

Artistic Director of Centre National de Danse Contemporaine Angers  (CNDC) in France. Having a discerning and critical eye to the dance, dance,  she is actively engaged in collaboration  works with artists of different fields such as visual artists and  musicians. In pursuit of restructuring of the dance, she has built up  her experience under the  famous choreographers such as Trisha Brown,  and collaborated with Herve Robbe, Odile Duboc and others. In ‘94,  she was awarded with a grant of Villa Medicis for a creation work in  Vietnam. MUA, a solo in the total darkness was her first work as a  choreographer. Since that, she created several performances which "A  Vida Enorme / épisode 1" interpreted by Catherine Legrand and Nuno  Bizarro.

Japan-France Dance Exchange Project 2008-2010
"Amanohashidate / Pont du Ciel" project

“BIG LIFE” of this year is the first trial of the “Japan-France Dance Exchange Project” to be organized for three years in a row from ’08 to ’10. This project originates from the “Exchange Project” between the Hot Summer in Kyoto and the Angers National Center of Contemporary Dance (CNDC) in an attempt to prepare a venue of training for each other. With this project as the starter, we are to promote dance exchanges between Japan and France with the kind cooperation of various organizations concerned. Don’t miss it!

Meirin Body Salon

You will never be able to escape from body care and troubles as a dancer. During the Festival, a Body Care Corner will be open. Applications will be received at the site.

Video Salon -Lunch time- : free of charge

The customary annual event to enjoy selected dance videos. This year’s theme is “A world opening up from dialogue with the body”. As the videos are shown during the lunch time, you can bring in your own lunch or enjoy the videos while lying down on the Tatami. On the last day, a special dialogue is scheduled after “My Body”.

Lecture of Body Conditioning for dancers<Mental>

: free of charge/application not required

A lecture on self-control to explain in a plain language some knowledge necessary to make your body most fit to dance. In addition to the last year’s popular lectures on “how to take exercise, rest and supplements”, Mr. Kuwahara gives a talk on mental conditioning you want to know to keep balance between the body and mind, by citing ample example unique to the athletes and fighters. A special trial session on Body Method is included.

Launched the Supplements Division in Ezaki Glico. Thorough and complete in his profession and tries out by himself all candidate ingredients of supplements for new developments. Active as instructor on body conditioning for professional athletes, lecturer, writer and others. Works as conditioning coach for Mr. Keiji Muto, professional wrestler of Japan.
